It may not look like much, but this here little cloud test is a successful step towards a future Fallout Equestria inspired video. I'm aiming for a May release, although that all depends on how fast I can model all the assets and setup the correct physics simulations. Some highlights of this future video will include: - Fast paced chase through the clouds. - A destroyed Manehatten city. - A 1st person view of an Enclave soldier's HUD (hybrid between Iron Man and military aircraft). - Overall awesomeness level: Will blow your mind. Testing out FurryBall 4 (a GPU based renderer) to render thick(ish), evolving 3D clouds. Way faster compared to mentalRay, and the quality is quite good, although not yet at full production standards for the Hollywood machine. Absolutely superb for the 3D hobbyist who doesn't have access to a 200+ computer render farm though :D Settings: 720p, 24fps, Motion Blur, Ambient Occulsion, Area Lights Total Frames: 300 mentalRay Render Time: 6hrs, 40min (1m-20s/frame) FurryBall Render Time: 1hr, 40min (20s/frame) I've always wanted to do a full CGI FoE inspired video, but render times were always the biggest obstacle, for even a 3min video rendered on a single computer can take MONTHS of time to render. Now with this new renderer, it's a possibility. If I can pull this off, I hope it will inspire others to do something similar.
