Murmur - "What Has Happened? (demo)" Various Artists - Headstart for Happiness (2007) Shibuya-kei, Indie Pop Lounge, Jangle Pop TKO New Music Corporation's two 2007 compilations, Headstart for Happiness and Boys (& Girls) Wonder are both subtitled with the phrase "Shibuya-K Indie-pop Collection", and it's clear that these "neo-Shibuya" bands that appear on the compilations draw their sound from the 1990s wave of Shibuya-kei and neo-acoustic indie pop bands. Some of these artists, like The Caraway, Melting Holidays, Soda Fountains, and Flannel have readily available albums; for others, this is one of only a few compilation appearances. One such song is the apparent demo of a song called "What Has Happened?" by a band called Murmur, whose common name makes them effectively untraceable and it's possible this was the only song they ever released. But it's rather characteristic of the sound of the more guitar-pop-oriented groups on these compilations, with prominent organ and bells along with its jangly guitar and twee vocals. Although many of its originators and even the main bands who pushed the sound in the late 1990s had broken up or moved on at this point, neo-acoustic guitar pop pushed onwards with new musicians. https://rateyourmusic.com/list/fourths/rym-ultimate-box-set-neo-acoustic-guitar-pop/ Neo-Acoustic / Guitar Pop I don't own this music but i recommend it. I will remove it if requested.
