So we have a new mix series; the RYM Box Set will be covering the Hardcore side of Electronic very soon we have a guide named Gal Defend. He's the author of the 51 vinyl mix series named: THIS IS WHAT WE CALL ... (acidcore, artcore, breakbeat hardcore, dark hardcore, deathcore, doomcore, frenchcore, gabber, hardcore, hardcore breakz, industrial hc, newstyle, oldschool techno, speedcore, terrorcore, trancecore, uk hardcore). Whew! He's allowed me to upload the series on youtube so these mixes will be showing up on here shortly beginning with this one. All mixes were recorded with: Reloop Effex 2 mixer and 2x Reloop RP-2000 MK3. We don't have tracklists so apologies there. Feel free to ID tracks IF you know them. HIS MIXCLOUD - http://www.mixcloud.com/gal-defend/ HIS DISCOGS - https://www.discogs.com/user/defend/ Breakbeat Hardcore (which was simply called UK Hardcore at the time) had lots of piano rolls, bouncy basslines, unauthorized samples, plenty of sped up female vocals or samples, and classic "rave" sounds and samples (often stolen from other Rave and Techno tracks). Some "Rave" tunes and Hardcore in the UK had a brief period of Top 40 chat success beginning in 1991 and finally ending with Sesame's Treet peaking at #2 in July 1992 which signaled the lowest point for Hardcore creativity. But for the most part Hardcore was an underground movement contingent on a multitude of small labels and a long list of anonymous creators.
