Murmur is a top-down shooter featuring elements of strategy and exploration. The protagonist is an electromagnetic mage from the Heart of Light who seeks to reach and redeem the Heart of Darkness and stem the claustrophobic tide of Darklings. It attempts to accomplish this with an array of three abilities: A magical missile, for striking more powerful foes, a flare, to deliver light over an area, and a shield, for blocking the passage of the Darklings and controlling the flow of enemies. Exploration brings light to the labyrinth, strengthening the light-mage, and bolstering its offense and defense. Stray Darklings, however, may cut you off from the Heart of Light, choking you of your energy supply. It is therefore crucial to build a redundant network of paths to your objective, to ensure that when you reach it, you still have the wherewithal to complete your goal.
