Looking back at this commentary, I feel like I didn't explain how the idea of Rarity being a changeling came about all that much. Essentially I was looking for a tragic backstory for her, and one day came across an idea of "What if she was a changeling?". It was a very intriguing idea to me and kind of fit perfectly with some of Rarity's quirks and personality. It was also an idea that had not been done before in an abridged series and provided great potential for some future episodes.
