It's been quite awhile since I've written any original music, but I made an exception for my friend, Exiark for his new album. He is ridiculously talented and it was such a treat to see what awesome things he could do with my voice. Be sure to buy his album and subscribe to his channel! The lyrics I wrote were very much influenced by Helen Reddy's "I am woman", as a song of female empowerment and an ode to the discouragement some girls (and feminine men) feel growing up with others telling them who to be. Of course, I do hope any male or non-binary listeners feel equally empowered while listening CREDIT Lyrics, Melody, Vocals: Megaphoric Instrumental, mixing, arrangement: Exiark https://www.youtube.com/user/Soundsparkpony DOWNLOAD https://exiark.bandcamp.com/album/backstab LYRICS Nothing's quite as easy as it seems Not like the beginning Feels like every day I wanna scream In this game there's no winning Can someone tell me just what happened To my perfect story Thought I had this under wraps and Knew what's waiting for me You can't throw me away You'll find nothing better You can't force me to stay Donning your red letter You can't take it away What I've worked so hard for At the end of the day You will hear me roar (x2) Can someone tell me just what happened Thought I had this under wraps and Knew what's waiting for me Something with more glory Knew what's waiting for me Somewhere skies aren't stormy People to adore me You can't throw me away You'll find nothing better You can't force me to stay Donning your red letter You can't take it away What I've worked so hard for At the end of the day You will hear me roar The knife held in your hands no longer stings You think you'll hold me back with just these chains It's cute you think that you can stop my reign There's nothing that I have you can contain So go ahead and try, I will maintain The power that I have and will gain You can't throw me away You'll find nothing better You can't force me to stay Donning your red letter You can't take it away What I've worked so hard for At the end of the day You will hear me roar
