Subjunctive, by Integral Archer, is a fanfic that I started out being ambivalent about, but as I've read it, it has become one of my favorite MLP fanfics for the deftness with which Archer takes you into Errenax's mind.

One of the themes in the story is deception, and the role language plays in deceptive acts. I wanted to explore that theme, as well as how language shapes our perception.
