download the latest Ponies at Dawn album here https://poniesatdawn.bandcamp.com/album/oceansong Here's another Ponies at Dawn song! I have to say that this was my favorite album theme so far, growing up and living in a town with the sea really makes you attached to it and I don't think I could live well in a place without the sea. But how to describe the sea with music? That's a really hard task, so I just decided to "go with the flow" here: this is a very simple and melodic song, I didn't want any harsness in it, even when some percussions come in they're always some soft cymbals smoothing some transition. The idea was to treat this melody like a traditional song: it's just two sections that gets repeated over and over but, like with traditional songs that you learn by ear, everytime there's a repetition there are little variations to the melody or harmony, like a new person playing the same song the way they remember it. I also played a lot with tempo here, there are places where tempo is slowed down a lot to emphasize some passages: that's a thing that you would do with a traditional song too. And lastly this is my first song featuring my own self-made sample instruments! There's one you can clearly hear in the beginning and ending of the song which is the Ebow Piano (you can download it here for free https://www.pianobook.co.uk/library/ebow-piano) it really goes well with sea waves! I hope you enjoy the song, be sure to check out the whole album too, lots of cools songs there! my twitter https://twitter.com/wanderorchestra
