Vylet looked into the mirror and watched as their mother’s cutiemark began to dissolve. She mouthed the words “this is now the kingdom we made,” before being consumed by an ocean wave. Vylet stared as the mirror now stood devoid of anything but their own reflection. “Upon all of our sins to our grave,” Vylet’s voice was frail, “for so long those words had hung in my head. And now I know that, after all this time, it was her voice. Now I know that the kingdom we’ve made is her memory inside me.”
