Oohhhhhhhhhh boy, this won't end well.
Just my two cents, most people complaining are basically saying 'continuity is good except when I don't like what they're referring to'. While EG wasn't amazing it wasn't terrible either, and there was no real doubt that it was canon except for those in denial.
I'm not personally invested in the show to the point where I'd get upset over something frankly trivial like this, in fact I thought it was actually a well-done subtle reference to continuity.

And no doubt put in by an animator, so there's no point hatin' on McCarthy for it or saying she lied when she likely had no idea it was in there.
