Rambling Thoughts:
When taken at face value (or out of context), the idea that treating negativity and outright hostility with kindness is almost always seen as naivity, however, is it really so absurd to believe that kindness can act as an almost universal elixir to even the most cynical, bitter and corrupted heart. Fluttershy can be seen as the "embodiment" of these very ideals and her unerring belief that everyone deserves compassion, regardless of their attitude, is arguably her most endearing quality.
