♫ ♪ Come Try Your Luck ♫ ♪ ♫ ♪ At Fishing In The Sea ♫ ♪ ♫ ♪ You'll Find Adventure ♫ ♪ ♫ ♪ That We'll Guarantee ♫ ♪ An operetta in which all the dialogue is sung in verse, "Oceans Of Love" is a fun little cartoon about a young man out fishing in a small rowboat who gets into a battle with an giant fish that looks like a cross between a grouper and a piranha. The fish knocks the young man out, and in a dream sequence he rescues a mermaid in shackles being forced by King Neptune to marry a villainous-looking electric eel. Just as the young man finally gets to hold the grateful mermaid in his arms, we see the whole adventure really was a dream and he's actually hugging the giant fish! One of the last cartoons Terrytoons made before Paul Terry himself left, "Oceans Of Love" is a more-or-less typical 1950's Terrytoons cartoon with plenty of sight gags and fun action. Example - when the young man takes the shackles off the mermaid and tosses them away, one end clamps around the neck of the electric eel and the other end clamps around King Neptune's neck and electrocutes them both! And seeing the young man grapple with the giant fish makes me think of Roy Scheider's line from the movie "Jaws"... "You're gonna need a bigger boat"!
