Dark Souls and Bloodborne may seem like very similar games, but the subtle differences in their mechanics reflect some radical differences in their thematic presentation. There are massive spoilers for both games here that, if you aren't aware of, you probably won't understand anyways. Additional thoughts below: While I was rendering this video, I happened to watch this other video by Vaati about the currently known aspects of Dark Souls 3. A lot of it points to the idea that the player character in that game will, similarly to Bloodborne's, be someone special; and face a very different struggle compared to the chosen undead of the first game. I'm really excited to see how this game's mechanics, which sort of look like they stand in the interstice between Dark Souls and Bloodborne, will be reflective of the narrative.
