Part 1 of a tutorial I was asked to do for Stable-Tec focusing on My Little Pony and puppets. If you are worried this is a little to basic, we'll be getting into some more advanced stuff later. Play around with the functions in Illustrator to see what they do, and remember to press Ctrl-I for the most useful function in the entire program. To clarify a point on the Width Tool, you mainly want to avoid using it if you are going to be importing any vectors over into Flash, that you may want to edit later. If you are making anything that won't be touched such as a background, or still image, you can feel free to use the tool. It can certainly make things easier rather than manually making the lines, but as far as pony vectors on the show, the width tool was never used when they were originally designed in Flash.
