To the recent influx of new people who now follow me, welcome; and yes I do music as well. I've been doing music about as long as I've been animating and I just hope you people enjoy all of the things I bring to the table for my YouTube channel. I'm very proud of my performance and my mixing on this one, and I hope you people like it too :D This is one of my favorite songs by The Front Bottoms. It always puts a smile on my face and I love performing it when I warm up on my singing. Before I even started to perform the vocals on this cover, I actually had to study up and practice how to yodel. The line "almost feel them slipping through" involves this sharp octave transition between notes and I practiced it for about a week before I had the confidence I'd nail the note down correctly in a recording. This is the first time I've utilized my Vox AC15 amplifier for one of the guitar tracks. I don't really believe in software amp simulation stuff, so I went the classic way and mic'd up my amplifier and pressed record. I mixed together my main acoustic guitar and a subtle overdriven Stratocaster EQ'd to fit alongside together. I recorded most of the guitar's tracks and mixed them within an afternoon. Later in that day, I managed to get my hands on a melodica [the cute wind harmonica instrument you hear in the mix] and just had to start recording something to test it out. I mic'd it up and played along to the tracks I had recorded before. I had a ton of fun with the drums. I have an old Native American hand drum that was given to me a while ago and it's very loose. It sounds like a very convincing kick drum, and when a container filled with rice is placed on top of it as you hit it, it'll sound like a good snare. I jived along to the metronome on top of the audio and used what I got. I made a small shaker out of an old pill bottle I had used up and filled that with some old rice I found in the cupboard. I'm pretty surprised with how it turned out, considering I never do drums and I often avoid using samples and music production software. This entire song was recorded and mixed purely in Audacity with just some EQ, panning, and reverb placed on appropriate tracks. Funny how things around the house can be turned into some useful instruments.
