My sister graduated from Pasadena City College last Friday. It was nearly a four hour ceremony. Quite a bit of it was dedicated to the Nisei recognition awards/diplomas. It's a great program dedicated to the Japanese-Americans who were denied education during WWII while in America. They were held in concentration camps during the duration of the war. A group of these people were given honors during this ceremony. It was a wonderful sight. They were given a standing ovation by everyone, including graduates, which was unexpected by the ones receiving the honors and the girl who was announcing the program. One of the clips involves this moment.
