"Rules of Beauty" is the fourth song of season five of My Subverted Pony: Deconstructionism is Beauty, featured in the fourteenth episode "Canterlot Boutique". In this song, similar to "Art of the Art", Rarity sings of her philosophy of putting time, love, and esprit into her cultural works, but becomes distressed when she is limited to inculcating post-WWI modernist designs, stifling inspiration from her line of work. Now, far be it for me to make such a song given that my singing skills aren't exactly the epitome of euphony itself, and thus one might even call "hypocrite" that I am asking others to fulfil the standards that not even I have preached. However, given that so much as manchild plebians like myself can identify that the pursuit of beauty is not only inherently lacking but also completely subverted to the point where ugliness is now a perpetual feature of modern ubiquity, ought to speak volumes as to the general state of how, dare I say, artfully and spiritually unwell we have become. Quite simply, the premise is this: art is a reflection of the innermost well-being of a society, and if I may be honest, the media men are all cultural homoeopaths. In the worst-case scenario, though, I can always have the video be remade again, better and more beautiful than its current state. My only hope with this song is that it will inspire, perhaps, the pursuit of beauty in its heralded form to all who listen, just as Rarity too pursued beauty in the creation of fashion and couture, and likewise, as the esteemed Roger Scruton had inspired me to carry the message of the importance of beauty to you. His documentary of "Why Beauty Matters" in the highest deliverable fidelity can be found here: https://vimeo.com/128428182 Do note at the time of this post, an ongoing conflict between Ukraine and Russia has occurred in which civilians and soldiers alike are going through the perils of war. My prayers and compassion go out to all ethnic groups afflicted by these dire circumstances and that the outcome, in the hope that a smooth resolution may be seen through this new war. Perhaps a way to say it prosaically would be: "May you find beauty in this time of strife." --- This video features materials protected by the Fair Use guidelines of Section 107 of The Copyright Act of 1976 (a U.S. copyright act).
