I suggest watching WITHOUT annotations first. Like everyone, I was very eager to see Luna's canon personality for the very first time. Fan canon at the time depicted her as remorseful of her past, demure, shy, etc. All in all, kind of boring. I was worried that she would turn out to be similarly flat in terms of characterization in the actual show. Of course, I needn't have worried. The writing team for MLP:FiM have always done a fantastic job, and they put forth their best effort in their creation of the real Princess Luna. She was kind, but quick to anger. She was shy, but her sense of royal decorum didn't allow her to show it. This complexity is what inspired me to write this piece. The idea I had in my mind was to represent the duality of Luna. The big, loud, and kind of terrifying persona she puts on for the benefit of her subjects, and the sweet, out-of-touch person who just wants the love that her sister receives. On the practical side of things, this is my first orchestral composition, and as such is sort of clumsy. There's a huge list of things I would like to change, and I may one day get around to fixing them. I hope you enjoy.
