In an era of emerging drama queens being given a public stage through Twitter, Tumblr, and other mediums, I thought it might be interesting to talk about a drama queen in history who was surrounded by her own rumor mill. Lola Montez - real name Maria - was a dancer surrounded by trouble and sympathy. Through a combination of romance and pig-headed determination to ignore opposing viewpoints or criticism, she managed a bizarre dual life as a hero and villain who left numerous men destroyed in her wake. She also had syphilis by the end of her career, so presumably at least one of those guys had syphilis, which I guess could be considered somebody's revenge.
