When the apprentice came to the master and told him he was ready to strike out on his own, the master asked, "Have you ever made a mistake?"
The apprentice replied, "No, but I've got this sweet idea where I strap a chainsaw to a hand grenade. I call it the chain grenade!"
The master then calmly explained that he was going to provide some preachy anecdote about how you need experience and how you need to fail sometimes in order to learn, but he realized at that moment he was getting ahead of himself, and they needed to go over the basics again.
