After the latest MAS episode, I had someone ask why Fluttershy's parents would be hard on homosexuality. I've had this same thing asked about Applejack, and why I depict her getting upset about Big Mac's common fan showing as a "colt cuddler". Often they ask, does that mean Celestia's religion teaches them to think like that? Today I figured I'd talk about law, tradition, marriage, and how that ties into the politics surround homosexuality. A lot of people like to focus on the moral aspects, but in previous eras marriage has been wrapped up considerable in the politics of inheritance and responsibility, and we can trace that back to tribal roots, possibly further. This argument was a key to the US Supreme Case that eventually made gay marriage nationally legal.
