I'll be heading out of town soon, but before then I've got just a bit of news. Among the more important has to do with a proposed pay and benefit cut to the US Marines, which is something that does bother me for the personal reason that I have friends in the Marines. I try to discuss some practical reasons why pay shouldn't be cut if cuts are going to be made - I just don't really look at a pay reduction for the broad majority of a military branch and see a lot of good consequences there. Not for the Marines taking the cut or even for the society that employs them. It's a lose-lose situation.

Aside from that, I finally do my best to tackle prions! It was a discussion I originally abandoned because protein folding was a lot more complicated that I thought it was when I first went to tackle the subject. I hope that the way I explain here makes sense and is easy enough to understand.
