After seeing a research being discussed on 4chan a couple weeks ago, I thought it might be interesting to talk about some trendy soft sciences that came and went in the past. Truth be told, these cycles are common, and thought they catch on in the moment, they usually last for only a decade or two - however long it takes for people to realize the models are only 5% accurate. We've talked about a few of these before, but I often find one of the more challenging things about being skeptical of trendy research is explaining why you're skeptical of trendy research.
