okay so, first things first. This song will not make sense to anyone who doesn't read the following:

I have a headcanon about chrysalis that I came up with just because I love justifying antagonists, and it goes like this:  Changelings don't PURPOSELY 'eat love' it just HAPPENS. if someone with a lot of love is near a changeling, they'll be sapped dry, and depending on how much was taken will either go into a coma, or straight die.  Chrysalis, being the oldest changeling, has had this happen far more than  any of the others, heartbreak after heartbreak. She was around back in the day, long ago, when ponies and changelings lived peacefully together.  After ponies started up and dying, the changelings were suspected, since their numbers didn't go down, and they were banished to Tartarus. Once there, the changelings themselves started dying. At this point, they... KIND OF realized what was going on. They didn't realize they were feeding on love, but they realized they needed to be around other species to live, and so they fled, and became a migratory species, going from village to village and leaving when there was nothing left. Chrysalis's subjects, in large part, became feral creatures, while chrysalis herself stayed sentient and emotional, wishing that one day, she would find a cure for the curse that plagued them.

Enter Shining Armor: A stallion with strong magic, and ties to Equestrian royalty. At first signs of his getting with Cadence,  Chrysalis sent spies to gather information, and began planning the attack. The plan was simple: For  most of her feral colony, she would claim it wasa a simple takeover to steal the love of equestria, while in reality, it was a way to rid them of the curse altogether. She would switch places with cadence, marry shining, then use her new royal place to give him a mission: Use his strong magic to perform a conversion spell all across the land converting the changelings need for love, to a need for solid food, and thus ending their curse, and the plague they brought with them to pony villages. After doing this, she would sneak cadence back into place, and disappear to be with her own kind, now able to live a happy life forevermore.

So that's what the song is about, Chrysalis losing everyone and her reasoning for the attack. Have fun and enjoy!
