So! I recently got an actual, single-purpose, microphone as part of my kind-of-grand somewhat-masterful plan to improve. The quality of the sound is is pretty great, but the sound itself... well, it's getting better.  
I'm making the switch to Reaper from Audacity, and still have a lot (most everything) to learn in the mixing department. Probably sounds a little nicer on headphones, since I mixed on headphones and thus didn't pan the tracks as much as I should have.

I've somehow actually ended up writing songs about magical ponies, something I never imagined doing (Even as I was doing it), which I'll record and post just as soon as I figure out how to Reaper a little more, and polish them up.
