Link! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3DD9XEq8c7o Wooo, another collab completed! And that one is kind of a special one. It has a concept of feeling like one single video as opposed to different parts, and the names of the editors are not displayed in the video. Also, it evolved from a birthday PMV to a PMV that is celebrating the fifth anniversary of the show, so it was always full of feelings. About a month ago, Rainbowdashzx asked me if I would join this project. It was such an honor for me to be selected, I was so happy! And not only that, but I got to do TWO parts! This is the first time I'm doing more than one part for a PMV Collab. My first part was meant to depict Twilight's life before she moved to Ponyville, so I went all-out for that. I pushed the boundaries of my editing skills and I gave it all that I got. I even made a custom animated part for it using Flash ^^ When Twilight is raising that orb of light from behind that hill. In my headcanon, after a while of learning magic, she finally gets to realize one of her dreams in some way, that is to raise a "sun", being inspired by Celestia at that fateful Summer Sun Celebration when she was a filly. It's not meant to be a real sun, it's more a big orb of light, that has her purple color. Also I wonder if anypony will catch the occult references I've put in that part ^^ My second part was meant to depict the mane 6's past, them getting together and spending time together, to end on a scene with them in front of Twilight's new castle. I got more lax in most of that part, doing more "simple" things, but that I enjoyed nonetheless. Even in that part I'm glad I could make my vision a reality ^^ Instead of going for a still picture for the last scene, I got out of my comfort zone and decided to go all-out and to make a custom scene using an advanced 3D modeler. I created the whole environment in it, including the forest and the grass (there's 3 different kinds of grass in it). I wanted to try and make something cool with the "Welcome Home" title being included in the scene, as well as the mane 7 and the castle. But because of the deadline I couldn't do everything as I planned (that animation takes a whole lot of time to render, 3 hours for 1 second!!), and I couldn't import the ponies and the castle inside the scene in the 3D software like I originally planned. Running out of time, I decided to include them in the scene the hard way (or more like the "amateur" way) by adding them "on top of the video" and keyframing them so that they move along the animation. The result is certainly not looking as good as it could have with more time, but I still did my best, and took all of the last day to improve the keyframing the best I could so that it doesn't look too bad. I hope you could still like it! Also, it's too bad, but because the environment is so detailled with all that 3D grass, the video player can't keep up and is reducing the video quality to compensate. The animation is meant to look WAY better, but it seems I can't have that on a YouTube video. To give you an idea, here's a snapshot rendered from the software : https://drive.google.com/file/d/0Bwv6fW_7Aff2YnpUaFliV0ZRZ3M/view?usp=sharing There's that, and the fact that I couldn't render the animation with optimum settings and with texture filtering on. Because my laptop would have literally taken days to render a single second of the animation, and there certainly wasn't time for that XD Fun fact : that 3D scene is made of 4 613 937 984 polygons! My laptop was dying during the rendering! And because of the deadline I even had to put my two laptops to use, rendering at the same time, and overnight. Those last 3 days were crazy!! Incidentally, the two parts I had to make had the guideline of being fast-paced, which is my preferred editing style! I want to thank Rainbowdashzx for this opportunity and for letting me in, as well as my fellow co-editors Alan and Harmonic Wind. I love you all! Thank you to all the vector artists that provided me material :) Lastly, I want to give a personal shout-out to Saxm13 on DeviantArt! Thank you for all your wonderful works and for giving me the inspiration to make my own 3D scenes using that software! And thank you for your kindness and for replying to my questions. Saxm13 makes amazing 3D artworks and a lot of them have ponies blended in, it's a special kind of PIRL and I love it sooo much! Here are some of my favorites from him : http://saxm13.deviantart.com/art/Fluttershy-s-Kindness-349694076 (printed that one as a poster : http://i.imgur.com/H8QX3pp.jpg) http://saxm13.deviantart.com/art/Gettalongadist-Pony-319471777 http://saxm13.deviantart.com/art/Rivershy-389227983 http://saxm13.deviantart.com/art/Orion-421834512 And there's a ton more in his gallery, check it out! http://saxm13.deviantart.com/gallery/ Ok that's all. As always, brohoof to you my description reader friend! /)
