I've been brought up as a city boy, but I love the outdoors and the idea of small country towns and close-knit communities. When Liquid Harmony sent me the instrumental for this I knew I wanted to write about Ponyville, with inspiration from the Apple family. Lyrics: Watch the sun go down, With a cider in one hoof, After the hard work that we've done, Oh we're for the setting sun. On the close of another day, Working hard for our pay, Feed our stomachs and share some laughs, Oh sweet Belle, I think you know me to well. The town is lit with pretty voices, Everyone knows everyone, Singing, yeah that's how it is, In a small town like this. Watching as all the young folks, Dance hoof in hoof, And show us all their merriment, Oh that's how the song went. Makes me know it's all worthwhile, When I see you turn and smile, Can't ask for much more than that, Job's done, I pull down my hat. The stars are out ever so brilliant, And under their lullaby, I drift off into slumber, Oh tomorrow brings us some more summer. The great blue sky will be out, We'll put our backs down to a shout, Working together the only way, And so the old song plays.
