The idea for simplehorseshow wasn't the first incarnation of the simplehorses. Back in 2017, I started a comic called simplehorsecomic, which I still run to this day. Eventually, I had the idea to bring some animated humor back to the fandom after Friendship is Witchcraft, Mentally Advanced Series, and others ended. This was in early 2019. I wrote a script, recorded, and animated several minutes within a week of the MLP episode "The Beginning of the End," but wasn't able to finish it because of other projects, an upcoming convention, etcetera. I showed what I had at Everfree Northwest 2019, on the animation panel I co-host there every year. Eventually, I remembered that I was sitting on an entire recorded episode as well as a few minutes of animation, and I decided to set a deadline for myself to finish it before 2020. I didn't work on it all fall, because I was busy, but once I was able, I gave myself a week. December 22. Well, I made it! It's been months since I touched this project, and I just hammered most of it out in a week! Be proud of me!

For the characters in simplehorseshow, I combined some of my favorite elements from previous MLP parody series and added my own twist and art style.
Fluttershy is sort of a slightly sadistic version of the Fluttershy that Greg invented for MAS, Twilight is basically my incarnation of MAS Twilight, And most of the other characters share traits with MAS and FiW, about equal parts, with some of my own stuff thrown in, like I mentioned.
