Yeah, this is a thing. There's a few raccoons that sometimes show up at night and will actually stand on the porch and wait for me to give them bread. Sometimes they'll just sit there and eat it. Actually had one walk just inside the front door once. I've also seen some adorable baby raccoons by doing this. Tiny little balls of fluff.
