The story would have continued in the city with this piece of art or something like this is what i had in mind, you go inside and that which you need to extract is one soldier still alive kicking ass, holding her last stand killing the monsters that are going up with no way out of there you join in the fray. Was there any hope did it end there? not really but the story would have been longer of course more detailed more survival then anything else i would say.

Yea Terminator inspired very hard on it.
