Lyrics were a whore and wouldn't come to me. I wrote the lead guitar as a solo in another song, but when the notes rang out/palm muted it sounded like a really neat lead for an entirely new song. So, I immediately abandoned the other song and wrote this one. The fast shooting vocals after the first chorus took a few tries to nail. After I recorded it about fifteen times, and only had four good takes, I reused the first take that you hear as the back up vocals for the second time around. ;) The line "I'm coming down on you..." The second time with the screaming was originally the first part, but I moved it to the second time and put one of the back up parts as the lead; thus, creating the non-screamed part of the song. Toward the end, "...and I will shroud the world in darkness for eternity" was so screwed up. The lead vocals say, "The world" the right back up says, "Your world" and the left says, "This world." I was unrehearsed on that line and generally just fucked it all up, and didn't notice until I was syncing lyrics with the video. The bass guitar was uncooperative and a buzzing can be heard now and then. I found out later that recording while the dish washer is running causes that interference. Interesting.
