The first piece you hear is an except from the "This Day Aria"* featured in the Season 2 finale of My Little Pony: Friendship. This particular excerpt is sung from the perspective of the Changeling Queen Chrysalis (who is impersonating Princess Cadence). The circumstances that created this scene are pretty simple: Changelings need to subsist on love in order to survive, but not just any love, but love stolen from the significant other (or whatever) of whomever they are impersonating. Cadence was set to be married to Capt. of the Royal Guard Shining Armor, so who better to impersonate than her? ok, whoever would end up watching this probably already knew that. What interrupts her is an excerpt from the power metal group Kamelot's song "Elizabeth:I- Mirror Mirror"**. This song itself is a part of a three part conclusion to their album Karma (2001), and it details and is inspired by the myth/events/wikipediawoulddoabetter job of Countess Elizabeth Bathory. The short story is that she cray and thought that bathing in the blood of her servants would help preserve her youth; she apparently did lots of other wacky things that you can look up if you want. I dunno, the parallels just hit me pretty hard, mostly when I heard that segment of the "This Day Aria". My mind instantly made this connection and I thought it would be a funny video, turns out there might be other sub textual connections as well, but I can't seem to find my tin foil hat so I'll leave it at that. but really, COME ON, LISTEN TO THOSE STRINGS, MAN! * Video what I jacked from: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UzsxfO7dBlA **Live video with pretty good audio: http://youtu.be/fgCHMnAwWds I think Dannyboy likes Kamelot
