And it's fixed! you learn something new every day you beat on things with tools and sticks. Get out there and learn stuff! It's fun!

Putting the pick up on the metal of the tin made a very large ground plane. this caused the pickup to ground to my thumb every time I toughed the metal. Moving it to the neck fixed this and you still get good tone and a nice sound.
