Hey guys, real, genuine, not memey Ray here. Today I'm posting something a bit different. This is my first project for my Digital Image and Media Production class that I'm currently taking at Grinnell College. This was our prompt (with some introductory stuff cut out): "...For this project we will be making short, silent, moving images. These are not to be lengthy narrative films, but vignettes: videos where motion and time radically change the meaning of the image, especially when multiple frames are combined into one piece. You are to make 1 finished video (between 1-3 minutes in length) that incorporates 3, 4, OR 6 (your choice) different clips which are somehow connected – whether that’s visually, conceptually, or otherwise. For this first project you are required to use a tripod or other stable surface while shooting (no handheld/moving footage)." Most of my classmates made videos that were very abstract and up for interpretation. A lot of them revolved around movements found in nature and/or created using people. Some people pushed the boundaries of what was expected; one of my classmates created the illusion of camera movement by filming his shots off of reflections from the screen of his moving phone. Others made it very simple; another one of my classmates filmed three whole minutes of his computer monitors playing films, shows, and games during his attempt to finish homework. I took a different approach. I like to make people laugh (if only those who share my shitty sense of humor), and thus I decided to view this prompt as an opportunity to explore a unique comedic medium. The result is what you see here. Please enjoy my first real film. Thank you for reading, -Ray P.S I will be uploading three more short films throughout the rest of the semester, so expect a weird variety of content for the rest of the year. EDIT: If you want to see more stuff like this after my class ends please let me know! P.P.S I'm sorry for not being very transparent lately about the status of my channel. I have a twitter (@YuRaynus) where I am fairly active and regularly post updates and answer questions, but I realize many of my subscribers don't follow me. Regardless if you follow me or not, I will try to find the time to make a real channel update video within the next few weeks. I have many projects in the works, most of which I struggle to find the time to work on and several of which are collaborations and guest editing gigs that won't be posted on this channel. I'll try to keep you guys posted if and when I can.
