If you dislike said topics then don't read/listen any further. Depression is a thing. It's a thing many people go through,. In fact most people will experience some form of depression at some point, either due to a loved on dying, or a traumatic event, or just being down on their luck. Major depression or manic depression, bipolar depression, and a few others are a bit more rare, but still terribly widespread. The biggest problem with depression is that it's not always visible to the casual observer, and tends to go unnoticed or untreated for too long. Often times what are simply side effects of being depressed society labels as negative character traits, such as "being lazy" or "unmotivated" or "anti-social". I was drawn to the thought of a certain filly by the name of Scootaloo. The show portrays her as a happy, energetic filly, full of life and ready to tackle any and all obstacles. Obviously she found solace from her inability to fly in her friends and Rainbow Dash.. but what if she didn't? It's along the same lines as finding out that you'll never walk again, or that you'll lose an arm or an eye or what have you. Something that is a part of you doesn't work. Imagine the soul crushing despair she would experience if she didn't have anyone to show her there's more to her life. Anyways, that's where this song is coming from, as well some personal life struggles.
