It's a good thing episodes don't often go as I predict them in my head while watching.  Could you imagine what this would have turned into if Applejack's leaving Ponyville was motivated by a romantic plot like I had initially thought it was?  Probably not well.
Also, Buffalo are pretty heavy on average.  This makes getting tackled and pummeled by one not fun on several levels.
