Greetings,

This episode did an amazing job at showing why it's important to stick by those who stick by you.  I've never seen this show test Rainbow Dash's loyalty so well only to show her prove just how much it means to her.  Not only was it enough for her to stick by her friends, but it was enough to deny her heroes.
Another point touched on in the episode (but not this video) is how Fluttershy wanted Rainbow Dash to choose to fly with the Wonderbolts because of what it would mean to her to fly with her heroes.  It doesn't affect the overall message.  But it shows that Fluttershy is just as capable of wanting her friend to succeed as Rainbow Dash is.
