Although I've talked about recovering from failure in other videos, none of them were quite on the magnitude of compensating for said failure as Applejack took in this episode. What especially complicates this lesson is the fact that she was working unselfishly and needed to finish what she set out to do so she could help those she cared about. I can say from personal experience that this is a terrible feeling to live with. But what I'm starting to notice in those around me, as well as absorb myself; is that by believing oneself to be a failure for not being able to support our families in a material sense and leaving in an attempt to solve this - only makes our families miss us even more. This, of course, only creates a bigger hole than what was already in the roof. I've also seen in others and my own circles that those loved ones will want you back in their lives, more often than not. I have no idea what lies ahead for me. But I've got a few things I can try so I'll worry about the broken roof later. What's important now is that I'm getting a chance to start fresh and to actually be there for my loved ones so we can support each other instead of one bearing everyone's burden. However, I do know that an accepting family is not the case for everyone. For those who have nowhere to go after not winning any prize money at the rodeo, I pray that you have strength for as long as you need it and that your friends will appear to you.
