I don't have much experience with the furry fandom.  I've only ever heard a couple of stories about what being a furry is about or what it's like inside the community and none of it seemed terribly appealing.  However, I never felt compelled enough to look into it for myself to see if that was the case.  So I made sure to go into this documentary ready to learn anything.
It proved to be an interesting learning experience.  If my new assumptions are correct; being a furry is about finding an animal you can relate to for one reason or another and projecting a piece of yourself onto it or creating an alternate persona so that you may express yourself in a way that you wouldn't be able to do otherwise.
