With a new year comes a new video. Here's my demo of the vocal effects for the Personality Cores, from one of my favorite game franchises: Portal.

Curiosity core: 0:27
Cake core: 0:38
Space core: 1:20
Adventure core: 1:51
Fact core: 2:00

These effects are all very similar, but with subtle variations between them. The Curiosity and Cake cores required extra pitch shifting (as I have a male-sounding voice), with the Cake core specifically having slightly more pitch drift. The Space, Adventure, and Fact cores (as they are "corrupted cores") were routed through a somewhat narrowed bandpass filter and a little distortion. Rick received a little chorus effect to differentiate him from the other two more (though I might have gone a bit too heavy on it).

So why didn't I include Wheatley or the Anger core? Simple: their vocals didn't have any sort of special effects (outside of EQ and compression, which is pretty standard). This is mainly a demo of vocal effects, rather than character impressions. However, if you would like me to do my best impressions of the Anger core and Wheatley, please let me know in the comments.

I also chose not to include the raw audio for this one, as that would have made for a MUCH longer video.

I plan to do a tutorial on all of these in the future (as part of my tutorial on Melodyne).
