My Twitter: https://twitter.com/KalloSkull Artwork by Yakovlev-vad: https://www.deviantart.com/yakovlev-vad/art/Shadows-of-the-past-848202938 So I'm a big fan of Japanese video game and TV series composers such as Michiko Naruke, Sumio Shiratori and Nobuo Uematsu. One day I happened to be listening to some of their stuff while scrolling through MLP fanart, and I stumbled upon this picture by Yakovlev-vad while "To Zanarkand" was playing. I was immediately moved and inspired by how well the picture of Celestia and Luna looking at, presumably, their long-gone parents through a pond's reflection, went with Uematsu's composition. Felt like somehow I wanted to share & convey with others that feeling I got. So I decided it'd be a perfect chance to write something of my own inspired by that incredible composition. While I stuck to my own route with much of it, I don't think there's any question how much I was inspired by that song if you listen to them back to back, and there's no point denying it. While by no means was I attempting to rip off Uematsu's composition, I was still, at its most core, very much attempting to create my own "Zanarkand", so to speak (no easy task, btw). Despite being rather simple, I think this is by far my best work to date. Almost everything turned out exactly as I had envisioned it from the start, which frankly speaking, I don't think a whole lot of musicians get to often say. There's always something, sometimes a whole lot, that turns out differently from how you thought it would. I hope you enjoy, and hopefully there'll be more to come soon! :)
