Sorry, the last thing I wanted to do was kill off Fluttershy but I had no choice. As I said before, she's the only one who works as Fantine and at least Fluttershy has sick scenes (too bad there's only a few). This is one of the reasons I did the concert version, this song is just so beautiful and in the stage version they have Fantine die a more peaceful death than in the movie or book, where she dies from shock.

I've decided not to redo Lovely Ladies as it would be way too similar to my original so the reason Rarity is not Fantine is simply that I can't see her becoming a "lady in the night". When she's in trouble she always figures a way out. Fluttershy on the other hand, when her back's against the wall she caves and goes with whatever the last resort is. Even though Rarity probably has better scenes for Lovely Ladies, Fluttershy fits more personality wise.

I tried to show Fluttershy imagining Sweetie Belle there though I'm not sure it it came across that well. Death scenes are hard. The show just doesn't have ponies looking weak (with the possible exception of Twilight). Good news is this is the last time we see Fluttershy miserable.
