After 2 months of working on this, Applejack has her own PMV! Unfairly, I think AJ is considered to be everyones least favorite pony. I just think she didn't get any time to shine in season 1, so heres hoping to season 2! This didn't really take 2 months to make, infact I was 90% done with it after about a week of working on it, but several things happened that delayed the release: 1: Graduation: You'd think I would have had more free time after finishing college, but instead it is quite the opposite. Been writing up resumes and sending them out daily and that has been taking a heft chunk of my daily time. I've really only worked on this maybe 30mins to an hour a day for the past 2 months. This includes planning, doing, learning etc, so it was a slow process! 2: Reworking: I was getting ready to finish off this pmv when I saw a video posted up on ED with very impressive editing work done on it. I took a look at my pmv and decided it needed some additional sprucing up. Obviously I couldn't scrap the entire video, but I wanted to rework some of the major scenes so it actually looks like I put some effort into it instead of just cutting and pasting clips together! While the end result, I believe, is no where near what I have seen from other video editors, I think its a step in the right direction. 3: Learning!: Partly related to #2, I pretty much spent 75% of my editing time learning about different effects. 2 Major things I learned during the creation of this PMV were masking and chroma keying. Masking allowed me to rip some character sprites from various scenes and allowed me free reign as to what I could do with them, but it came with a price. Masking is very labor intensive and it takes a LOT of time to pull off a good mask. Chroma keying is what you guys may know as green screening. Its a bit tricky to pull off but it can make very quick masks of character sprites if pulled off. Though certain characters are very hard to chroma key (Twilight gave me a headache!), I think its a good method for pulling off quick masks. Combine all 3 of these events, and its why this PMV comes out just under a week before season 2! For Applejack, I wanted to make something country to reflect her character. It was tough to find a song about her since most country songs deal with a specific chain of events (IE: Storytelling about thier personal lives) as opposed to something general. However, I did end up finding Easton Corbin's "A little more country than that" and I thought it would suit AJ quite nicely. There was a bit at the end dealing with marriage, but I managed to cut that portion out and have the song blend in so it isn't noticeable at all (I did this quite early on when making this pmv, so I don't even remember where I cut it out exactly anymore lol). I hope ya enjoy this, it was fun making it! Heres to Season 2, and hoping AJ gets a chance to "shine" as well! As for my next project, I haven't decided yet. Right now I'm studying for a certification exam, but once that is done, I think I'll start a new project on either a Rarity PMV or Spike. I also managed to get my hands on a copy of After effects, so I'm also going to be spending some time learning about it. If anyone has some good tutorials they used, please send me a message! -Prism Brony
