This is not a dig on the show's writers, staff, creators, or anything like that. I think they did a fine job on the episode! It's more a dig on how some people believe that the decision to make Twilight an Alicorn was purely marketing-driven. I don't know if thats true or not, but hey, this seemed funny to me.
