Chris Sabat has delivered his British voice performance! Where the astronauts of Mikey Neumann and Daniel Graves experience extreme emotional vulnerability/breakdowns as they approach the end of their consciousness, Sabat's English astronaut is classy to the end- straining to keep composure, making sure that decorum and poise are maintained to the very last breath. The Sabatstronaut (can I say that?) I interpret this way: he doesn't really even want to give the impression to his audience that this is perhaps even bothering him, like, "Oh, don't go to the trouble of worrying about me, now". This performance is refreshing in that aspect, in contrast with some other nihilistic ones. With this performance on, the album is very different. It's almost hopeful or a testament to the enduring human spirit, somebody who keeps a civilized act together in the face of an extreme lack of meaning. I think it would make a good coupling with the Knapton art above, as it seems to not cast off humanity so hard- it feels like it still wants very much to be near other people.
